1985 Faculty and Speakers


Randy Cochran: As the Director of Graphics for Scripps-Howard Newspapers, Mr. Cochran helps determine the look of each of the newspapers in the chain.

Jim Douglas: The 1984 NPPA Television Photographer of the Year. Mr. Douglas, from Minneapolis, will show his award winning work.

Fred Richtin: A picture editor of New York Times Magazine, former executive editor of Camera Arts magazine, and currently Director of Photojournalism and Documentary Photography program at the International Center of Photography.

John Filo: A Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, Mr. Filo has become a sports specialist for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Gary Hoenig: Mr. Hoening began his career as design specialist with the New York Times and went to the Washington Star. He then moved to Newsday, where he is Assistant Managing Editor for Business, Photo, and Graphics.

David P. Johnson: As the Illustrations Editor for National Geographic's World magazine, a magazine for kids, he deals with freelancers every day about ideas and their execution.

Steve Krongard: Mr. Krongard began his career in New York as Pete Turner's studio manager. For the past five years he has tackled the commercial world in the studio and on location.

Karen Mullarkey: Ms. Mullarkey has been instrumental in the redesign and redirecting of the photographic coverage of Newsweek.

Fred Shook: Mr. Shook is the Director of Broadcast Journalism Sequence and Professor of Photojournalism at Colorado State University.

Mike Yamshita: Considered by some to be among the best photographers in the country, Mr. Yamshita will show his feature photography from the world over.

Lois Bernstein: In 1984, she won three honors: Atlanta Seminar Best Student Portfolio, Ohio POY and Honorable Mention in College POY portfolio division. She is now an intern at the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot and Ledger-Star.
